Governing Council

The Governing Council is NOT responsibile for the day to day running of the school - that's the job of our very capable Principal and School Leaders.

Meetings go for about 90 minutes and there are 2 meetings per term. Our meetings are family friendly and all ages are welcome.

You will stay up to date with your child’s learning, their programs and their future vocational options.

The Principal, Curriculum Leaders and the elected Staff Representatives provide firsthand information about the school, news from the classrooms and the opportunities that are presenting for students.

The elected Student Leaders keep us up to date about the matters that count most for our students, including their learning and well-being and their hopes and aspirations. Invited guest speakers and community representatives connect us to the latest curriculum initiatives and the things that count most for parents, carers and our community.

• Work together to improve facilities/equipment.
• Connect with and or visit other high schools to collect and share ideas.
• Promote the many great things that the school offers and does for students.
• Keep abreast and be informed and involved in our children's education and vocational opportunities.
• Encourage others to join with you.

• Have a cuppa and share the positive energy and laughter that comes from working together.
• Share parent and community voice and our perspectives and provide guidance for school decision making and actions.
• Keep an eye on and contribute to the school's Site Improvement and Funding Plan as a way of keeping the school on track in the best interests of students.
• Review and update important policies (eg. positive behaviours for learning and life, uniforms, anti-bullying, student and staff well-being).

No! Any parent or guardian of a child at the Port Lincoln High School, or any person over 18 who is passionate about children’s education can be a member of the Governing Council.
