Year 9/10 Students Acknowledged at Channel Assembly

Earlier today, a Year 9/10 Channel Assembly was staged on the Stamford Floor – following the success of last week’s Year 7/8 version, this morning’s event further trialled an alternative method for promoting our consistent themes of success and belonging. We were again delighted to host some of the students’ parents for the occasion.
The assembly officially commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country delivered by Year 9 student Iesha Noack, and was compered throughout by Year 10 students Lucas Gray and Evie Gamlin – very well done and thank you to those three students for putting their hands up to execute these important roles.
Year 9/10 Channel Assistant Principal Mr. Craig Curtis delivered a wide-ranging address to the audience, before Mrs. Stacey Hartwich (Year 9) and Mr. Tyson Collins (Year 10) were invited to the podium. They duly announced the names of nineteen students from their respective year levels who had earned Academic Excellence Awards – and a Certificate of Achievement – for their outstanding Semester 1 results.
This was followed by another nineteen students receiving recognition and a certificate from their Dharna Crew Leaders – these Crew Awards were given for a variety of reasons, all of which can be traced back to demonstrating our school values of Responsible, Respectful and Inclusive. The award-winning students and their parents were later treated to a celebratory morning tea in the Staff Room (pictured above).
To further entertain the audience, two clips from “Alter Oscillate” – last term’s incredible PLHS Dance Production – were screened.
We look forward to repeating this process in a week’s time with our third and final Channel Assembly for this term – next Wednesday morning’s event will be dedicated to the Year 11/12 Channel and will be staged on the Senior Floor.
