PLHS Hosts Country Education Foundation Launch
Earlier today, Port Lincoln High School proudly hosted the official launch of the Country Education Foundation of Port Lincoln, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to support rural and regional youth to achieve their career aspirations through post-school education and training.
Part of a national network of 46 local foundations, CEF Port Lincoln was established to provide much-needed financial assistance and support to local youth to help them achieve their post-high school education, training and vocational aspirations. They recognise that the cost of rural students pursuing their post high school goals is often much greater than those of their metropolitan counterparts, and that sometimes these costs can be prohibitive. CEF Port Lincoln fundraises throughout the year and accepts donations from local residents and businesses in order to provide financial grants to students who need an extra helping hand.
Today’s launch event commenced with a Welcome to Country delivered by Year 7 student Lyndah Jeffrey-Richards. Attendees included members of the CEF Port Lincoln committee, and school and community stakeholders. Ms. Leonie Wanklyn, Deputy Chair of the Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation, presented a cheque for $3,000 to CEF Port Lincoln Chairperson Mr. Greg Barry.
PLHS looks forward to establishing and maintaining a strong partnership with the Country Education Foundation of Port Lincoln for the benefit of our senior students.
