PLHS Shares “CREW” Insights with Mr. Jason Loke

Over the past two days, PLHS has had the privilege of hosting Mr. Jason Loke at our school – Jason is the Department for Education’s Assistant Director for Learning and Teaching in the Secondary Years. He flew to Port Lincoln specifically to speak with PLHS staff and students about the positive trends in attendance and engagement that have been identified at our school this term as a result of our focus on the concept of “CREW”.
Earlier today, Jason interviewed a group of Year 7 students about the implementation of “CREW” at Port Lincoln High School. The session was recorded to enable Jason to share the discussion with his team back in Adelaide. Our students were able to thoughtfully articulate their experiences and opinions in a mature and informative manner – the PLHS staff in the room were extremely impressed at the mature level of insight that these young people were able to provide.
As Jason himself described: “It was great to hear from the kids; they told such an eloquent story of their lived experience being crew.”
This process was repeated later in the day with a group of Year 11’s – they spoke freely of their newfound ability to be vulnerable with peers and teachers within their Crew environments.
We thank Jason for sharing his valuable time with us and hope he found his visit to PLHS both rewarding and enjoyable. Congratulations to all involved in the program over the last two days – well done, Crew.
