Successful Japanese Fusion Dinner Fundraiser
Over one hundred patrons enjoyed an “oishii” (delicious) Japanese feast at the Port Lincoln Bowling Club last Friday night. The event – generously sponsored Bendigo Community Bank Port Lincoln – was a well-supported fundraiser for the 24 PLHS Language students who are set to depart on the cultural trip of a lifetime to Japan next month.
The wonderful Japanese fusion meal was provided by Chef Jeremy Hartwich and his talented team; the hard-working crew was supported on the night by a willing (and appropriately dressed) group of the travelling students. Diners devoured the bountiful platters of onigiri sashimi, Japanese-flavoured oysters, spring rolls, karaage chicken, gyudon beef & noodles, tuna & kingfish steaks and purin (a Japanese version of crème caramel). Also on offer were lucky seat prizes, lucky squares, the drawing of the ten prizes for the group’s major raffle and the opportunity to have a go at some origami.
We would like to again publicly thank Bendigo Community Bank Port Lincoln, Chef Jeremy and his staff, the numerous local people and businesses who donated prizes to our raffle, and of course those in attendance on Friday night – your generous support of our students in greatly appreciated.
A special mention must go to PLHS parent and staff member Ms. Lyndell Carmichael, whose tireless fundraising efforts over the past few months have generated close to $10,000 for the travelling students – “arigato gozaimasu” (thank you very much), Lyndell-san!
