Year 9’s EXPLORE Local Careers & Industries

Tuesday July 3rd was a fantastic day for our Year 9’s at PLHS – as part of Careers Week, they participated in the EXPLORE Career & Industry Immersion event.
Organised by Uni Hub, our students were offered access to over forty local businesses and careers throughout the day. Each session ran for either 45 minutes or a two-hour block and involved the delivery of information and some amazing hands-on tasks.
Our students cooked, used interactive programs, built wind turbine models, toured the hospital, learnt about the allied health industry, visited the Lincoln Marine Science Centre, visited a fishing company, silkscreened a print, went to TAFE SA and completed a range of different activities in so many other businesses.
I was incredibly proud of the way our Year 9’s embraced these valuable opportunities and the manner in which they represented themselves and our school throughout the day.
We wish to thank the participating businesses and industries for allowing our students to gain an insight into the possible careers available to them.
~ Ms. Tiff Evans (Student Pathways)
