Cross-Curricular Opportunities in Year 8 Dance
My Year 8 Dance crew recently experienced the power of collaboration and creativity through dance.
Firstly, Ms. Caitlin Randall’s Year 8 Music crew composed original songs that became the inspiration for choreographies created and performed by my Dance students.
Then, to end the week, the students immersed themselves in some Indonesian cultural experiences. Mrs. Melanie McGown invited three visiting Indonesian instructors into our Dance studio; they brought their expertise, teaching a blend of traditional and popular dances, each from their hometowns.
This unique blend of music, choreography and culture provided our students with hands-on experiences in working across disciplines. Thank you to everyone involved for making this an inspiring success for our Year 8 Dance crew!
~ Miss Hanna Minchin (Dance Teacher)
