Students Submit Entries Into Malka Art Prize
We are pleased to share the news that we are submitting nine entries into the upcoming 2023 Malka Art Prize at the Yarta Purtli gallery in Port Augusta. Our students are eligible for the $1,000 Youth Art Prize in this prestigious annual event – fingers crossed!
Our exhibiting students are Ava Miller, Nikylah Likouresis, Graham Goldsmith, Kobe Dodd, Lucas Retallick, Kaysharne Coleman, Ebony Rigney, Mia Flanagan, Sharlisha and Robert Roderick Varcoe.
The Malka Art Prize is the brainchild of the late Mr. Marvin McKenzie Senior; his vision was to have an Aboriginal art prize that would provide Indigenous communities with a space to showcase their work. Malka has now been running for thirteen years and provides is an annual opportunity for Aboriginal artists to exhibit their talent; winners often progress to state and national exhibitions.
