The Resilience Project & Survey – Parent Info

Hello Parents and Carers,
Port Lincoln High School is proud to have The Resilience Project program running in our school this year, across Years 7-12. Dharna Group teachers work through lessons and journals with their students with a focus on key pillars that have been proven to cultivate positive emotions.
The Resilience Project (TRP) program is committed to teaching positive mental health strategies with a focus on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM) and Emotional Literacy to build young people’s capacity to deal with adversity. Research has shown that the more positive emotions you experience, the more resilient you will be.
Through an evidence-based teaching and learning program, and inspiring digital presentations for students, staff and parents/carers, our school partnership program aims to support mental health in the classroom, staffroom and family home.
This program has been independently evaluated by both the University of Adelaide and the University of Melbourne and has found the following:
- improved confidence and self-esteem
- improved knowledge and ability to express emotions, at school and home
- more supportive classroom environments
- significant increase in daily practice of gratitude strategies
Please refer to the attached documents for further information and links to The Resilience Project. Students will also be completing a Resilience Survey (information attached) as part of the program to gain an accurate understanding of our students’ strengths and challenges. The Resilience Survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. The survey will provide valuable information to assist us to create and maintain the best culture of wellbeing and resilience that we can.
We encourage you to discuss TRP and GEM with your child/children to find out more as well. More parent/carer information will be distributed (newsletters/presentations etc.) as they become available from TRP.
If you have any further questions about TRP, please do not hesitate to get in touch via return message or contact the school on 8683-6000.
Kind regards,
~ Lenny Woods & the Wellbeing Team
