PLHS Attends 5-a-Side Soccer Carnival at Tumby
In Week 9, Port Lincoln High School attended the annual 5-a-Side Soccer Carnival at Tumby Bay Area School.
Our Year 7 boys participated on the Monday, with Mrs. Simone Habner coaching a talented squad of young players including Ryan McCarthy, Billy Boxer, Tyler Males, Taylor Dodd, Tate Boxer, Connor Barrowcliff, Nate Payze, Jye Hearfield, Jesse Dorward and Noah Wicks. Bus driver/referee Mrs. Joh Walding came along for the ride and had an absolute ball. We faced teams from Navigator College, St. Joseph’s School and Tumby Bay Area School, and very nearly earned a spot in the Grand Final. The boys did us proud with their fun approach, sportsmanship and outstanding physical efforts (playing without substitutions).
We sent two teams to compete on the following day – Year 8/9 Boys and Year 8/9 Girls. The sportsmanship was fantastic on the pitch, with all players contributing positively. The overall skill and behaviour of our students was very impressive. Both teams made it through their pool matches undefeated to reach their respective Grand Finals. The boys were up against St. Joseph’s School, who proved to be tough competition, resulting in a 3–1 loss to the PLHS lads. Our girls wouldn’t give up easily, taking Navigator College into overtime, where they ultimately defeated 0–2.
Looking forward to next year!
