PLHS Claims Third at WASSAC 2021

On Monday March 22nd in glorious weather at Ravendale, Port Lincoln High School hosted the annual Western Areas Secondary Schools Athletics Carnival (WASSAC).
The PLHS team consisted of 40 athletes ranging from U/14’s up to the Open age group. All of our students performed really well and did their school proud. There were some stand out PLHS performances on the day, including:
- Siann Cross producing a new meet record in the U/16 Girls Shot Put
- Amelia Stevens winning every track event in her age group (except the hurdles which she couldn’t compete in due to reaching the individual event limit of five); accordingly, she also won the U/16 Girls Age Champion medal
- Dannen Blacker winning five (out of five) events that he entered, including running, throwing and jumping events; not surprisingly, he took out the Open Boys Age Champion medal
Port Lincoln High School came third overall with Far West A claiming the overall honours ahead of Navigator College. Port Augusta placed fourth ahead of Far West B, followed by Whyalla in sixth place. Students who won events at WASSAC will now be invited to compete at the state-wide SSSSA Championships in Adelaide at the end of this term.
