PLHS to Support “Jeans for Genes” on Friday

PLHS staff and students are invited to support the Children’s Medical Research Institute’s annual “Jeans for Genes” day this coming Friday (August 6th).
CMRI’s research has helped to eliminate rubella, introduced care for premature infants, and developed microsurgery techniques for organ transplants that save lives every day.
This year we are supporting “Jeans for Genes” because we want to help discover treatments and cures for the one in twenty kids facing a birth defect or genetic disease such as cancer, cystic fibrosis or life-threatening metabolic disorders – 30% of children’s hospital admissions are due to genetic disorders.
Our staff and students are encouraged to wear denim (and even the legendary double denim combo) on Friday, and donate via the money tins or our Jeans for Genes – PLHS Staff website.
Many thanks to the PLHS Governing Council for allowing our students to participate – we look forward to reporting on (and photographing) a fun and successful fundraiser.
