Pride Week Activities at PLHS
Dear PLHS Community,
At Port Lincoln High School, we firmly believe in fostering an environment that promotes respect, empathy and diversity. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where all students, regardless of their backgrounds, can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As June draws to an end, we would like to celebrate Pride Month with some activities during Week 9, Term 2 (see attached poster).
* Pride-themed art activity: Students will have the chance to express their inclusivity through the art project – held on the Eyre Floor from Monday – Wednesday (lunch time only activity).
* Casual Clothes Day (wear rainbow); Sausage Sizzle and Pride Wall – Friday (lunch) 30th June + GOLD COIN DONATION.
* Dharna Group and The Resilience Project classroom discussions to increase awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ history, achievements and challenges.
* Library displays (for the month of June): Our school library has a collection of books, literature, and resources that highlight LGBTQ+ themes, authors, and characters. This will provide an opportunity for students to explore diverse perspectives and stories.
We encourage students and staff members to participate in these activities and engage in meaningful conversations about the LGBTQ+ community. Let us use this opportunity to reinforce the values of respect, acceptance, and inclusivity within our school community.
As always, we are here to support all our students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. If any student feels the need for additional support or has any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our wellbeing team or any trusted staff member.
Kind regards,
From the SRC Team, Mrs. Woods and the Wellbeing Team
