Staggered Start to 2024 School Year at PLHS
The Department for Education and our Education Director have again given secondary schools the option to stagger their start to the next school year. Both parties have approved the following to commence 2024 at Port Lincoln High School:
- Years 7 and 12 will begin on Monday January 29th; this includes Special Options students in both year levels
- Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 will return on Tuesday January 30th
- both days will feature an extended Dharna Group session until Recess time
We have found this system to work very well in recent years; it will again allow our new Year 7 students to experience a full day as induction, including getting to know their Dharna Group peers, meeting their new teachers, logging in to the school’s computer network, becoming familiar with SEQTA, and many other important tasks that commencing at high school requires. For the Year 12 students, there will be a focus on setting up for success as a SACE Stage 2 student.
If you have any questions relating to the start of the 2024 academic year, please phone the school on 8683-6000 from 9am on Monday January 22nd.
~ Mrs. Lesley Warren (Deputy Principal)
