Success & Belonging Celebrated at Awards Assembly

A whole school assembly was staged in the Gym earlier today to recognise the Term 1 efforts of well over one hundred PLHS students. We were again delighted to have many of their parents and caregivers join us for the event, and at the celebratory morning tea in the Specialist Building which followed.
The assembly was again compered by our School Captains Liam Akehurst and Sophie Lang and commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country delivered by Year 9 student Aaron Richardson-Scott. Mr. Craig Akehurst based his Principal’s Address around the theme of belonging, and how our Crew culture is having many positive impacts across the school.
Achievement certificates were then handed out to worthy recipients across all six year levels; Channel Leaders and Year Level Support staff announced the names of students (listed below) who had earned Crew and/or Academic Excellence Awards.
Miss Tayla Helbig spoke about the 21 PLHS athletes who represented their school and region with distinction in Adelaide late last term – these students were also presented with certificates, for both participation and placings during the event.
Music students/staff Summer Thorpe (Year 11), Josh Flanigan (Year 10) and Mr. Stephen Campbell provided a real highlight during today’s proceedings, as they skilfully performed two songs for the audience – Green Day’s “Longview” and No Doubt’s “Just a Girl”. We look forward to inviting more students to deliver live music at future whole school events.
Congratulations to all of today’s award-winners and many thanks again to the parent/caregivers who supported our event. Non Nobis Solum.
